Q. Do I need to have a full set of drums to take lessons?
A. No, There are plenty of things to learn in first few months that require only a small practice pad and a pair of drum sticks.
Q. Do you really travel to the students home to give lessons?
A. Yes, this is actually a great place to learn because some students are more at ease and open to learning in familiar surroundings, on their own instrument. It is also very convenient for students and their families.
Q. Do you also have a studio where I can come to learn?
A. Yes, it is just outside of Louisville and Lafayette, about 9 miles from Boulder.
Q. I live far from your studio, is it a problem for you to travel to our home for lessons?
A. No, as long as you are in the Denver Metro Area or surrounding cities, including Boulder and Longmont, Lonetree and Castlerock.
Q. Can't I just learn to play the drums at school?
A. Particapation in band or music programs at school is encouraged although those instructors often have less than 5 hours of percussion training. The top drummers in the school music programs actually study under private teachers. Our program is more in depth and centered around the drums and works well in conjunction with the school curriculum.
Q. Can I learn to play to the music that I like?
A. Absolutely, that's what it's all about! Our program explores many different musical styles and techniques. Spending time learning some of your favorite music is part of the program.
Q. How long will it take me to get good at playing the drums?
A. It depends on you, and how much you are willing to practice. As with any musical instrument, growth is directly related to practice, and the quality and consistancy of that practice time. One of the most important things we do is to provide you with the specific material you need to practice, at the appropiate stage in your development.
Q. Do you teach hand drums?
A. We do touch on some of the techniques involved in playing hand drums, but our primary focus is on the drum set and cymbals.
